About The Position

The Senior Database Administrator will support the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on the Business Analysts III engagement. This role is responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing DB2 database environments in support of agency operations. The Database Administrator will work within AIX/UNIX/Linux platforms and provide technical expertise in DB2 licensing and Passport Advantage management. This position operates within a hybrid work arrangement and serves a critical public safety mission.

Requirements

  • 8 years of experience with DB2 databases.
  • 8 years of experience with DB2 licensing and Passport Advantage.
  • 2 years of experience with AIX/UNIX/Linux platforms.
  • 2 years of experience with shell programming and scripting.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years of experience with DB2 on AIX platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain DB2 database environments to ensure availability, performance, and integrity.
  • Manage DB2 licensing and Passport Advantage agreements in compliance with agency policies.
  • Monitor, tune, and troubleshoot DB2 databases to meet operational requirements.
  • Develop and maintain shell scripts to automate database tasks and administrative processes.
  • Support database installations, upgrades, and patch management within AIX/UNIX/Linux platforms.
  • Perform capacity planning and performance analysis to support agency data needs.
  • Collaborate with application and infrastructure teams to resolve database -related issues.
  • Ensure database backup, recovery, and continuity procedures are maintained and tested.
  • Document database configurations, procedures, and standards in accordance with agency guidelines.
  • Provide technical guidance and support related to DB2 environments on AIX platforms.
