About The Position

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a seasoned Senior Data Scientist for their Personalization team in Sunnyvale. This role will support Personalization and Recommendation development efforts within the eCommerce team, exploring large-scale eCommerce data to build DS/ML models that enhance customer shopping experiences. The Personalization team collaborates closely with US stores and eCommerce business units to improve customer service through technological innovation, empowering team members, stores, and merchants. Walmart U.S. offers a vast selection across various categories, valued by customers whether they shop online, via mobile apps, or in-store. Key focus areas include customers, stores, employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. Requirements

  • Master's degree or Ph.D in Data Science, Computer Science or related fields with practical experience.
  • Expertise in machine learning, statistics, personalization and item recommendation algorithms.
  • Experience in data science and building and evaluating large scale machine learning & deep learning models.
  • Experience in designing and deploying highly scalable Recommenders Systems for e-commerce.
  • Curiosity in state-of-the-art techniques in recommendation related areas.
  • Exceptional business acumen and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions.
  • Outstanding communication, leadership, and written skills.
  • Option 1- Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 2- Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.

  • Successful completion of one or more assessments in Python, Spark, Scala, or R.

Responsibilities

  • Develop state of the art techniques in machine learning, personalization and recommendation systems.
  • Design, implement and own the state-of-the-art machine learning approaches including deep learning, reinforcement learning, and computer vision, representation learning, graph model, agentic applications and workflow, ranking models.
  • Work with other tech leads on top-down or bottom-up initiatives and priorities.
  • Develop data models based on new data insights.
  • Design, architect and iterate on data models.
  • Iterate, challenge, and accelerate best practices in personalization and item recommendations.
