About The Position

As a Senior Data Scientist on Walmart's Performance Strategy team, you will support the strategy and execution of our Last Mile Delivery (LMD) operation. Your focus will be on building a governed, AI-ready Data Foundation, developing and scaling machine learning models, and delivering data-driven insights to continuously optimize performance. This role will directly enable Walmart to deliver faster, more efficient, and more reliable experiences for customers, drivers, and associates. Key Responsibilities · Build and maintain a One Source of Truth for LMD data, ensuring metric governance, lineage, and validation. · Partner with data stewards and engineers to make datasets AI-ready and consistently consumable across dashboards, models, and agentic AI systems. · Develop, test, and optimize algorithms for Walmart's Last Mile Delivery platform improve delivery efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer & driver experiences. · Analyze large-scale logistics and delivery datasets to generate actionable insights for Performance Management. · Partner with Ops, Finance, and Product teams to translate business needs into effective data science solutions. · Implement machine learning models to improve delivery efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance both customer and driver experiences · Partner with engineering, product, and business teams to translate business needs into effective data science solutions · Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders · Ensure solutions are scalable, reliable, and aligned with business KPIs Why Join Us · Be part of the team driving Walmart's delivery innovation. · Gain exposure to large-scale logistics optimization challenges. · Collaborate with both technical and business teams while growing your leadership skills.

Requirements

MS or PhD in Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or Data Science
3-5 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or logistics optimization
Proficiency in large dataset mining tools and open-source programming languages (e.g., R, Python, SQL)
Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to address both structured and unstructured problems
Excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
Option 1- Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 3 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 2- Master's degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field and 1 years' experience in an analytics related field.
Option 3 - 5 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
