We are seeking a Senior Data Scientist to join the Enterprise Reporting and Analytics team within the larger Transformation Management organization in Personify Health. This role focuses on advanced analytics, machine learning, and data-driven insights to showcase member outcomes, evaluate member engagement, and identify cost management areas. The ideal candidate will have expertise in health data, statistical analysis, and predictive modeling to enhance both well-being engagement and benefits administration, as well as a passion for improving the health and wellbeing of our clients’ employees. The role requires a self-directed data scientist with strong skills in data modeling, analysis, and visualization to execute projects from start to finish. Responsibilities include building datasets, conducting analysis, creating reports, and communicating findings to stakeholders. The candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and leadership, and possess excellent interpersonal skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
  • 5-7+ years of experience in data science, with a strong focus on health data, claims analytics, or health insurance. A history of increasing responsibilities is a plus.
  • Proven experience coding in either SQL and Python or R; Python preferred
  • Experience with health data risk models, and program evaluation statistical methodologies such as propensity score matching and difference in differences analyses.
  • Troubleshoot and perform data audits to ensure and improve data integrity; investigate and resolve data discrepancies.
  • Familiarity with predictive modeling, AI/ML algorithms, and working with large datasets.
  • Understanding of healthcare regulations (HIPAA, ACA, CMS rules) (preferred)
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills with the ability to translate technical findings into business strategies.
  • Employee health management/health engagement industry preferred
  • Knowledge of data visualization tools preferred (i.e., MicroStrategy, R: Shiny, ggplot2)
  • Experience in managing medium and large-scale analytics projects from end to end

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of care-based models, population health analytics, and clinical care management programs.
  • Exposure to TPA operations, self-funded insurance models, and employer-sponsored health plans and digital wellbeing solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Modeling: Design, conduct, and manage new analytical projects, starting with project planning, hypothesis development, and data gathering, then to analysis and modeling, and through to communications and recommendations
  • Research & Evaluation: Leverage existing studies, literature, and analyses into current research and analysis projects.
  • Risk Stratification: Design risk models to assess member health risks and recommend proactive interventions for cost savings and better health outcomes through care recommendations.
  • Delivery of Results: Build presentations, reports and dashboards that translate complex data into actionable insights for decision-making.
  • Data Engineering & Integration: Work with data engineering and data development teams to optimize data pipelines, ensure data quality, and integrate diverse health datasets
  • Regulatory & Compliance Analysis: Ensure models comply with HIPAA, CMS, and other regulatory guidelines while supporting analytical insights and reporting.
  • Collaboration & Leadership: Partner with operational and client teams to present results and to drive data-driven strategies and mentor junior data scientists.
