With over 125 locations, Sono Bello is the largest and fastest-growing cosmetic surgery practice in the nation. We are seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer Contractor (8 month) with strong Databricks experience to build and modernize data pipelines across engineering, marketing, web, online booking, and finance domains. This contractor will design and implement ETLs in Databricks using Python, SQL, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog, create bronze/silver/gold data models, productionize jobs with scheduling and data quality checks, and document governed datasets for downstream use. The role will also partner with business stakeholders to define entities, events, funnel stages, and reporting needs, while helping establish scalable architecture, access controls, and data governance standards.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on experience with Databricks, including notebooks, jobs/workflows, and Delta Lake.
  • Strong Python and SQL skills for building production ETLs.
  • Experience with Delta Lake, medallion architecture, and analytics-ready data modeling.
  • Experience with Unity Catalog for data governance, documentation, and access control.
  • Ability to balance hands-on development with architecture, scalability, and business alignment.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable data products.

Responsibilities

  • Design and build ETL pipelines in Databricks using Python, SQL, and Delta Lake.
  • Create and maintain bronze, silver, and gold data models for analytics and downstream activation use cases.
  • Build and optimize Delta tables, including schema design, partitioning strategy, performance tuning, and data validation.
  • Use Databricks Workflows or similar orchestration tools to schedule jobs, manage dependencies, and implement data quality checks.
  • Modernize existing pipelines to produce governed, scalable outputs within the Databricks lakehouse.
  • Document datasets, lineage, ownership, and business definitions in Unity Catalog for governed downstream use.
  • Support ingestion and modeling of marketing, website, online booking, and finance data in Databricks.
  • Help define access controls, sensitive data handling, and governance standards using Unity Catalog and Databricks best practices.
