Job Duties: Develop, modify and maintain databases and analytical programs that collect and analyze actuarial, statistical and economic data. Responsible for data integrity, security, and relevance and independently design and implement database structures across multiple platforms using SAS, SSIS, SQL and Python. Responsible for analytical programs involving actuarial, statistical, and economic data analysis techniques by working directly with the analytical team as well as the intended end user or external vendors. Assist with the coordination and review of projects across the team as well as provide training and problem-solving assistance for less experienced team members. Collect, clean, and prepare data for analysis (e.g., aggregating data, creating new variables, normalizing data, splitting data into training and testing sets, etc.). Source data from databases, APIs, web sites, surveys, and third- party providers. Prepare standard reports in a timely manner for stakeholders ensuring the data is complete and accurate and provide clear analysis. Build, optimize, and maintain data pipelines, ensuring data integrity, and enabling data availability for analysis. Develop data models, custom scripts, and specialized tools/applications to enhance data processing and analysis capabilities. Conduct advanced statistical analyses (such as regression testing) and trend evaluations to derive actionable business insights. Act as subject matter expert in one or more business domains. Partner with stakeholders to develop tailored data-driven insights. Create visualizations that tell a clear and compelling story, highlighting key insights and making complex data more understandable to stakeholders. Use of version control systems (e.g., Git) to manage changes to analysis scripts and documentation, ensuring that updates are tracked, and previous versions can be retrieved if necessary.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Information Technology, Mathematics, Analytical Finance, or Data Science plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or related data-driven position.
  • 3 years of programming experience with at least one or more of the following analytical tools/languages: SQL, Python, SAS, Hive.
  • 3 years of experience with programming concepts and principles including variables and data types, code readability and maintainability, control structures and basic ETL.
  • 3 years of experience with Cloud-based platforms Azure, GCP, or AWS.
  • 3 years of experience with Cloud-based technologies Databricks, ADF or DataIKU.
  • 3 years of experience with BI and Data Visualization tools Power BI or Tableau.
  • 3 years of experience performing basic description statistics, performing trend analysis, and identifying patterns over time in data.
  • Experience or coursework in the areas of Database management systems including architecture and data storage.
  • Required weekend and holiday work as needed to meet SLAs and month-end deadlines.
  • Hybrid work model position, working 2 days in Greensboro, NC office and 3 days from within normal commuting distance of the Greensboro, NC office location.
  • National travel required 5% of the time to attend conferences and to travel to other Arch offices.
