The position is responsible for day-to-day transactional activities necessary to ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and other import and export regulations , with emphasis on imports. The position requires proficient knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations, thorough understanding of required U.S. Customs brokerage documentation and extensive experience with trade data analysis (e.g. maintaining process accuracy/consistency, validating applicability of import duties to customs entries, audit customs broker activities and performance, perform extensive trad data analysis to achieve tariff mitigation tracking and reporting, communication with customs brokers and freight forwarders, and developing trade compliance process and system improvements). Position requires robust Excel skills.

Requirements

Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes. Level Working Knowledge: Employs process flows, cycle time, process time and waste concepts as appropriate. Walks through steps, decisions, measurements, dependencies and hand-offs for a specific process. Creates process flow or work flow diagrams. Documents types of process decisions and potential impact of each decision. Identifies and monitors common process bottlenecks.
Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems. Level Working Knowledge: Approaches a situation or problem by defining the problem or issue and determining its significance. Makes a systematic comparison of two or more alternative solutions. Uses flow charts, Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc. to disclose meaningful data patterns. Uses logic and intuition to make inferences about the meaning of the data and arrive at conclusions. Identifies the major forces, events, and people impacting and impacted by the situation at hand.
Audit and Compliance Function : Knowledge of major responsibilities and tasks of Audit and Compliance (A&C) function; ability to manage the operation of A&C function in various business environment. Level Working Knowledge: Summarizes the mission, vision and objectives of the A&C function. Works with the major units and sub-functions of the A&C organization. Implements the basic A&C technology used within the organization. Participates in meetings regarding relevant regulatory considerations and agencies. Explains the major A&C programs, initiatives and issues currently being addressed.
Data Gathering and Reporting : Knowledge of tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company. Level Working Knowledge: Detects and summarizes patterns in data and findings by producing simple reports. Assesses common problems and obstacles surrounding data-gathering. Customizes data fields to meet clients' needs. Interprets and explains results of a data-gathering initiative. Participates in projects to gather data for needs analysis.
Proficient knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations
