About The Position

You are an experienced Senior Cost Analyst with a minimum of 7 years experience with a passion for project performance and a keen interest in the mining industry. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, driven, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. In this impactful role, you will be embedded with our team as part of the owner’s PMO and providing cost control support to drive project performance while actively embedding and promoting the purpose, values, and vision of Turner & Townsend.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Project Controls, Estimating, and Cost Control on major projects in infrastructure or energy sectors.
  • 4+ years of experience in complex, high-profile, mega construction projects.
  • Relevant knowledge of cost control processes, budgeting, forecasting, and change management.
  • Familiarity with EPC/EPCM delivery model is an asset
  • A recognized university degree (or equivalent) in Accounting, Engineering, Construction Management or a relevant subject
  • Certification or designation from a professional organization is an asset (i.e. MRICS, CCP)
  • Relevant expertise in cost control software (SAP) required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement, administer and maintain cost control system and procedures to track project budgets, commitments, expenditures and forecasts for projects of medium complexity and value.
  • Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates and support change control processes.
  • Integrate estimates, contract values, and management reserves into a comprehensive cost baseline.
  • Validate contractor bids, internal estimates, and ensure cost alignment with the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS).
  • Implement Earned Value Management (EVM) and change management.
  • Analyze cost and schedule performance indices (CPI, SPI) and determine impacts to overall project health.
  • Ensure integration of cost and schedule systems and validate progress measurement methods.
  • Lead development of monthly cost reports, providing variance analysis, trend summaries, cash flow forecasts, and cost-to-complete estimates.
  • Present cost performance updates to senior leadership, project sponsors, and clients.
  • Prepare high-level dashboards, KPI reports, and executive summaries.
  • Lead and mentor junior and intermediate cost controllers.
  • Business Development – Being aware and proactive to highlight potential opportunities to Associate Directors and Directors.
  • Staff management – daily management of consultants and associate consultants.
  • Recruitment - Inclusion in selection and recruitment process, including interviews.
  • Knowledge management – Ensuring that key information and learning generated from each commission is input into the Turner & Townsend internal database.
  • SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
