The Role: The Controls Engineer will be the primary driver of: Modeling, simulation and testing renewable energy resources and controls Hardware-in-the-loop testing and validation of protection and control systems using real time digital simulator Interconnection impact studies for renewable power plants, Power quality for utilities and wind/solar power plants- voltage/current unbalance, flicker, voltage sag, harmonics, Fault analysis, Transient overvoltage studies such as capacitor and reactor switching, faults and clearing, line energizing, lightning, Blackstart studies such as transformer energizing, synchronization, transformer saturation and inrush, Load flow and dynamic studies, Short-circuit analysis, Sub-synchronous Control Interaction (SSCI) The Engineer will be expected to manage, develop, champion, and enforce work processes, documentation, procedures, guidelines, schedules, priorities, and technical specifications for all projects within the assigned region. The Engineer must function as the advocate for continuous improvement and operational excellence for controls and controls-related systems and equipment. This position is nominally remote.
