About The Position

SCADA Engineer Summary/Objective: The SCADA Engineer at Vantage Point Solutions provides technical and consulting support for Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Distribution Management Systems (DMS) used by utility clients to operate and monitor transmission and distribution systems. This role works closely with client stakeholders, internal engineering teams, and IT partners to design, configure, maintain, and optimize SCADA-related systems and infrastructure. Responsibilities: Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provide technical and consulting support for the development, configuration, and maintenance of EMS and DMS databases. Monitor and support EMS/DMS functionality, including system networks, data links, and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) communications. Evaluate and ensure SCADA infrastructure, technologies, tools, and system architectures meet client operational and reliability needs. Collaborate with utility clients, cooperatives, and technology partners on DMS configuration, implementation, and system enhancements. Support internal IT and engineering teams to align SCADA solutions with client operational objectives. Document system designs, configurations, and procedures in accordance with best practices and client requirements. Assist with troubleshooting, issue resolution, and escalation related to SCADA system performance and reliability. Contribute to project planning, execution, and delivery for client engagements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline, or education sufficient to qualify for the Professional Engineering (PE) examination as required by state licensing boards.
  • 5+ years of experience in engineering, SCADA, utility operations, or a related technical field.
  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification preferred.
  • Working knowledge of electrical transmission and distribution systems and utility operations.
  • Understanding of SCADA fundamentals, RTUs, communications systems, networking concepts, and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess issues and recommend appropriate solutions or escalation paths.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to research, analyze data, and make sound engineering recommendations.
  • Proven ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams.
  • Experience working in team-based and project-oriented environments.
  • Project management skills or experience supporting technical projects.
  • Commitment to safety and the ability to work independently or with others while following established safety policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) certification preferred.
