About The Position

Pinnacle Private Credit is looking for a strategic, hands-on Controller to lead and scale the accounting and finance function for a high-growth Merchant Cash Advance (MCA) and Fintech business. This is not a back-office accounting role. This is a leadership seat at the table. You will own financial reporting, portfolio accounting, treasury management, compliance, and operational scalability; while partnering directly with executive leadership, underwriting, and risk teams to drive smart, data-backed decision-making. If you have deep experience in MCA revenue recognition, portfolio performance tracking, and cash flow forecasting and thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments; this role was built for you.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (required)
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience
  • 3–5+ years in financial services, fintech, alternative lending, or MCA
  • Proven experience managing full-cycle accounting and audits
  • Direct experience with receivable portfolios or lending products
  • Strong GAAP knowledge and financial reporting experience
  • Advanced proficiency in NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage Intacct, or similar
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Highly analytical with strong business judgment
  • Detail-oriented with a bias toward accuracy
  • Comfortable in fast-paced, high-growth environments
  • Strong cross-functional communicator and team leader

  • CPA strongly preferred
  • Experience with loan management or funding platforms is a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes
  • Prepare GAAP-compliant financial statements
  • Oversee full-cycle accounting operations across multiple entities
  • Ensure accurate accounting for MCA transactions, including:
  • Revenue recognition on purchased receivables
  • Daily remittance/repayment tracking
  • Charge-offs, reserves, and recoveries
  • Manage general ledger, reconciliations, and journal entries
  • Support audits and external reporting
  • Monitor daily liquidity, funding capacity, and entity-level cash balances
  • Oversee funding operations and bank relationships (including account setup)
  • Perform and approve ACH transactions and wires
  • Build cash flow forecasts tied to portfolio performance and originations
  • Manage multiple legal entities, including formation and financial oversight
  • Track and report on core MCA metrics:
  • Net funded volume
  • Yield and default rates
  • Loss reserves
  • Portfolio performance and vintage analysis
  • Partner with underwriting and risk teams to align accounting with credit policies
  • Provide leadership with actionable insights into portfolio health and performance
  • Maintain strong internal controls and segregation of duties
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations impacting MCA businesses
  • Implement and refine accounting policies and procedures
  • Support audits, regulatory inquiries, and examinations
  • Oversee accounting systems, funding platforms, and integrations
  • Improve automation, reporting accuracy, and scalability
  • Lead system upgrades and implementations
  • Build, manage, and develop the accounting team
  • Set performance goals and provide coaching
