About The Position

This position is for a Senior Control Systems Designer who will prepare instrumentation and control systems deliverables, including instrument location drawings, instrument installation details, system block diagrams, instrument rack layouts, locations of instrumentation and other Control Systems commodities in the 3D model, and more. The designer will work with other Control Systems designers and engineers, other engineering disciplines, and other functional department personnel and/or the client. Part-Time Telework, Majority Office: This position is a full-time role that offers part-time telework flexibility in the Richland, Washington project office. Upon initial hire and onboarding, the position will require full time presence in the Richland, Washington project office, then may offer part-time telework flexibility. This position works a 9/80 schedule, offering every other Friday off. Please be advised that the telework designation of the position may be changed in the future at the discretion of the company or project.#LI-EH1

Requirements

  • Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Bechtel visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical (if located at the construction site), and background check which includes verification of employment and education.
  • Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)
  • Non-U.S. citizens from countries identified by the Department of Energy as posing heightened security concerns-including sensitive countries, state sponsors of terrorism, countries of risk, and other designated countries -are subject to additional security requirements that limit site access.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, planning, and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365 application suite (e.g., Word, Excel, Access, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficient in 2D drawing generation and 3D modeling (e.g., Bentley MicroStation, Open Plant).
  • Requires an associates degree in engineering and/or related discipline and 10-12 years of professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Generates 2D design drawings or 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) design models of high complexity with minimal guidance from others
  • Develops Control Systems design drawings, such as Instrument Installation Details, Instrument Location Drawings (derived from 3D model), Panel/Cabinet/Rack detail drawings, etc.
  • Monitors and checks work for compliance with approved Control Systems design standards to provide quality design, construction economy, and reliable/safe plant operation
  • Performs interference checks for Control Systems commodities within the 3D modeling software
  • Participates in 3D model and constructability reviews
  • Contributes to maintaining the project's instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of information to be populated in the instrument database related to physical design
  • Coaches more junior designers/drafters.
