About The Position

The Senior Contract Analyst supports faculty and staff in development, coordination, and administration of federal, state, and private contracts for sponsored project activities; manages and performs the process of reviewing contracts to external funding sources; serves as an institutional business liaison to sponsoring agencies; facilitates compliance related to contracts under the position's purview; reviews and negotiates terms and conditions of contracts with sponsors; drafts and negotiates sub-agreements as necessary; trains junior contracts professionals in the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP); trains new staff on use of contract management software; develops training and presents to research community, including faculty and department research administrators; provides guidance to department and college support staff and faculty members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university and five (5) years related experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Up to date knowledge of applicable law, federal and state grant guidelines, including but not limited to FARS, DFARS, 2 CFR 200, and Uniform Grant Management Standards
  • Ability to express self in a professional manner
  • Strong communication skills both oral and in writing
  • Ability to adapt communication style to match others' level of understanding
  • Ability to conceptualize, analyze, and evaluate information to reach conclusions and make sound decisions

Responsibilities

  • Drafts and negotiates legal and business terms for Research Related Agreements including but not limited to Industry Sponsored Project Contracts, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and Material Transfer Agreements (MTAs), Testing Contracts, Research Contracts, Investigator Initiated Clinical Trial Contracts, Teaming or Collaboration Contracts, Intergovernmental Personnel Act Agreements, Federal Contracts, State Contracts, Sub-awards.
  • Trains staff with regard to contract negotiation for the above contract types; develops and presents training to department research administrators related to contracts.
  • Interacts directly with external sponsors, including industry contacts, federal sponsors, state sponsors, and private non-profits for the purpose of negotiations.
  • Monitors workflow turnaround time and time sensitive contracts, subcontracts, and other agreements. Handles each agreement timely, with consistent follow up and updates to internal customers.
  • Maintains up to date knowledge of applicable law and federal, state, institutional, and sponsor guidelines, including but not limited to FARS, DFARS, 2 CFR 200, and Uniform Grant Management Standards.
  • Provides expertise and training to faculty and external department staff in contract and subcontract administration through FARS, DFARS, OMB circulars, federal, state, institutional, and sponsor guidelines.
  • Works with pre and post award teams on process improvement.
  • Assists with policy and procedure development.
