Senior Content Designer

LyftSan Francisco, CA
20h$138,000 - $172,000Hybrid

About The Position

At Lyft, our purpose is to serve and connect. We aim to achieve this by cultivating a work environment where all team members belong and have the opportunity to thrive. Content Design at Lyft operates horizontally, building the language and information architecture across our rider and driver experiences. This role spans two areas of critical need: central content design work that sets the standards and systems the whole discipline depends on, and end-to-end ownership of Loyalty and Partnerships surfaces, including programs like Lyft Pink, Lyft Cash, and integrations with partners like United, DoorDash, and Hilton. We're looking for a Senior Content Designer who can move fluidly between defining how we write and designing the experiences where that writing lives, all while bringing a genuine fluency with AI tools and AI-driven content to the team. This role sits within Design Foundations and partners closely with product, engineering, and design leads across the company.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of content design or UX writing experience, with demonstrated ownership of complex, cross-functional product work.
  • Hands-on fluency with AI writing tools and a track record of using them to accelerate content work. Bonus if you've designed content experiences that are themselves AI-driven.
  • Experience setting or contributing to content standards, voice guides, style documentation, or content systems that others use and build from.
  • Experience in at least one of: payments, financial services, loyalty programs, or partner/marketplace products. Comfort navigating regulatory and technical constraints.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills — clear, concise, accessible, and inclusive. ESL-friendly writing is second nature.
  • Strong systems thinking. You can hold the big picture (how does this touchpoint connect to the rider's broader journey?) while nailing the details (is this microcopy accurate and on-brand?).
  • Comfort working independently in ambiguous spaces. You can take a complex, poorly defined problem, define a content strategy, and drive it to completion without heavy oversight.
  • Experience designing for mobile (iOS and Android) and web. Proficiency in Figma.
  • Track record of collaborating effectively with product managers, engineers, and product designers. You're a strong partner, not just a contributor.
  • Experience shaping and socializing content design rationale with senior stakeholders, including executives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead content design strategy and execution for our central design team. Navigate technical complexity, regulatory considerations, and cross-functional dependencies while maintaining a cohesive rider experience.
  • Own the end-to-end content experience across Lyft Pink, Lyft Cash, Pay with Points, Rewards Hub, and our partner programs (United, DoorDash, Mastercard, Alaska, Hilton, BILT, Chase). Navigate regulatory and technical constraints while keeping experiences simple, trustworthy, and on-brand.
  • Bring AI fluency to content work. Use AI tools (Figma Make, Claude, and others) to accelerate your own workflow. At the same time, help define how AI shows up in Lyft's content experiences, applying the same rigor to AI-driven surfaces as to any other part of the product.
  • Drive content decisions independently. Proactively identify moments of friction, propose solutions, and validate through research and experimentation. Make a clear case for when to apply best practices and when to break from them.
  • Uplevel the team and the work. Partner closely with product designers, engineers, and product managers. Give and receive direct feedback. Share what you know about voice, standards, and AI tooling in ways that raise the quality bar across the discipline.

Benefits

  • Great medical, dental, and vision insurance options with additional programs available when enrolled
  • Mental health benefits
  • Family building benefits
  • Child care and pet benefits
  • 401(k) plan with company match to help save for your future
  • In addition to 12 observed holidays, salaried team members have discretionary paid time off, hourly team members have 15 days paid time off
  • 18 weeks of paid parental leave. Biological, adoptive, and foster parents are all eligible
  • Subsidized commuter benefits
  • Monthly Lyft credits and complimentary Lyft Pink membership
