About The Position

We are committed to delivering outstanding customer service and mission support to our military and civilian partners. We are seeking a Senior Consultant to support the Armed Services Blood Program. This is a full-time position providing Consultant and subject matter expertise in support of the program. The Consultant will provide expert guidance and technical support to the Armed Forces Blood Program, focusing on clinical laboratory operations, transfusion medicine, and blood product management. The role requires in-depth knowledge of blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility, as well as the ability to evaluate and improve blood supply chains across multiple settings, including U.S. and international operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant scientific field (e.g., Biology, Medical Technology, Chemistry, Hematology)
  • OR a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist working with DoD military and/or civilian customers.
  • Must be a United States citizen and able to meet all applicable Government security, background investigation, and installation access requirements
  • Strong analytical skills with emphasis on transfusion medicine.
  • Expertise in blood typing, crossmatching, and blood product compatibility testing.
  • Familiarity with differences in laboratory and blood bank practices between U.S. and international settings.
  • Ability to assess and optimize blood supply chains across collection, processing, storage, and distribution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to build relationships and effectively manage expectations with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Provide subject matter expertise in transfusion medicine and clinical laboratory practices.
  • Perform and review blood typing, crossmatching, and compatibility testing.
  • Assess blood product compatibility and report findings to relevant stakeholders.
  • Evaluate blood supply chains in different countries, including collection, processing, storage, and distribution capabilities.
  • Collaborate with DoD military and civilian customers to ensure best practices in laboratory operations and transfusion medicine.
  • Build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders to manage expectations and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Prepare clear, concise, and professional written reports and deliver presentations as needed.
  • Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and emerging trends in transfusion medicine.
