About The Position

The Senior Consultant collaborates with Managers and other Ryan senior staff, consulting with historic building owners, architects, engineers, and contractors, as well as federal, state, and local regulators. The primary goal is to facilitate the completion of the process for obtaining Historic Preservation Certification. This role involves advising on the availability of federal and other jurisdictional tax credits and providing knowledgeable technical preservation expertise to assist building owners through the complexities of the historic preservation process.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree with strong writing and research capabilities
  • Minimum four years’ experience with historic tax credit application projects
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally, and write persuasive technical arguments
  • Strong organizational skills and initiative working in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
  • Keen attention to detail
  • Ability to conduct research both online and in archives
  • Ability to multi-task and work independently in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment
  • Technical proficiency in Creative Cloud suite (especially InDesign) to layup photos, create maps, and photo keys
  • Valid driver’s license required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in History, Architectural History, Historical Preservation or equivalent
  • Work experience in comparable federal, state, or local preservation programs

  • Higher degree of expertise in all phases of the historic preservation certification process
  • Oversees the completion of the regulatory filings and amendments as required
  • Consultative and persuasive with extensive knowledge of the historic preservation process
  • Read and comprehend architectural plans as they pertain to the historic preservation process
  • Reviews compliance with state and federal regulations to ensure projects meet the SOI Standards
  • Performs other duties as assigned

  • May lead a project team
