The Senior Construction Project Manage r supervises a group of project managers working with our New York City (NYC) project management team performing project development and construction management services for NYC School Construction Authority .

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or a related field, or comparable work experience
8+ years of construction procurement, construction management, or general contracting related experience in both facilities and road construction preferred, minimum 5 years in supervisory capacity managing all phases of construction.
Extensive knowledge and experience in commercial public construction operations, pricing and contracting, including scope development and estimating
Knowledge and ability to supervise people, including recruitment, training, performance management, and people development
Strong knowledge of NYC building department requirements for filing, permits, inspection and close out
High level analytical skills and problem-solving capabilities, and the ability to effectively manage several projects in development and in the field simultaneously
Excellent customer service and communication skills, strong interpersonal and team building skills
High Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, Project and Acrobat Reader, ability to develop and generate custom tracking documents and reports.
Background in construction documentation and administration preferred, but not required
Job Order Contracting experience is preferred, but not required, comprehensive understanding of various public procurement and project delivery methods and requirements

Position is onsite (fulltime) and requires travel to project sites locally within the 5 boroughs (50-70%).
Reports to the NYC Long Island City Office.

Responsibilities

Provide support for Gordian products and services for NYC School Construction Authority
Primary roles/responsibilities will be leading construction management professionals and provide Construction Management Services for various types of work in school buildings throughout the 5 boroughs of NYC.
Responsibilities include leadership in all aspects of project management, goal setting, productivity, company initiatives, mentorship, and achievement-oriented focus that fosters a productive team environment while driving projects to completion.
Ensures projects are constructed in accordance with the Contract Documents, Drawings, specification, on time, within budget and safely.
Reviews and evaluates the performance of assigned staff, while providing guidance and recommendations for effective and efficient project management and career development.
Will manage a team of 3-5 personnel.
Prepare plans, assignments, while monitoring, reviews and evaluating the work performed by assigned staff.
Schedules monthly coordination meetings with Staff, Contractors, and Client to review reports on projects in projects in design/scope, construction, and projects in close out/transfer.
SPM will be responsible for coordinating the work with schools and stakeholders, overseeing construction activities, maintaining the project schedule, site safety inspection, project tracking and reporting, managing communication between all stakeholders, project closeout and transfer and managing contractor payments on multiple projects.
Will be expected to manage multiple projects at various stages of the construction process (design, preconstruction, permitting, active construction, closeout/transfer)
Manage material take-offs from plans and specs as well as create and review detailed construction line-item estimates/ proposals detailed construction line item estimates/proposals
Constructability review during design process and provide input on design to help fast track nature of the program.
Identify, assess and address issues and problems impacting assigned projects to ensure quality and high standards of performance and compliance in both design and construction by all consultants, vendors and stakeholders.
Visit various job sites on a regular basis in the performance of the above duties.
