About The Position

Senior Construction Manager, Transmission Oversight We are seeking a Senior Construction Manager, Transmission Oversight to lead and oversee contractors performing construction on the Owner's electric transmission system. This role ensures strict contract compliance, safe work practices, and adherence to design specifications. You’ll be engaged in a wide variety of projects, ranging from simple substation upgrades to the construction of new substations. As a Senior Construction Manager, you’ll play a critical role in identifying and resolving issues that could impact project success — including design, materials, contractor performance, access, and customer concerns. You will oversee project schedules, coordinate all field activities, and provide regular updates on construction progress to multiple stakeholders. This position involves managing several projects simultaneously, each at different stages of activity. This is a leadership role that requires both office and fieldwork, with responsibilities shifting based on project needs. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills, making them an invaluable asset to our team and ensuring the smooth, compliant execution of key construction projects.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience in transmission, substation, or journeyman lineman roles.
  • Extensive background in the utility industry; experience in compliance management is a plus.
  • Proficiency with computers, iPads, and Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills — both verbal and written.
  • Valid driver’s license and current eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure contractors comply with contracts, safety standards, and design requirements while working on the Owner’s electric transmission system.
  • Manage a portfolio of construction projects, including substation upgrades and new substation builds.
  • Identify, address, and resolve issues that could hinder project success, such as design challenges, material delays, or contractor performance concerns.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of project construction schedules to meet deadlines and milestones.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts among multiple entities on-site to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Communicate construction status, project progress, and key updates to stakeholders at all levels.
  • Balance strategic office-based planning with on-site construction management, as dictated by project requirements.
