About The Position

Colliers Engineering & Design is currently seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to join our Construction Engineering & Inspection team in New Windsor, NY! Our Construction Engineering & Inspection team plays a hands-on vital role in inspecting, designing, rehabilitating, and constructing hundreds of highway, roadway, and bridges across the United States. Join our team and partner closely with state departments of transportation, public agencies, and private developers on projects that matter.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 5+ years of related construction engineering/inspection experience required.
  • NICET II certification or higher; or bachelor's degree in civil engineering required.
  • Valid US driver's license required.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with/for clients like NYSDOT and/or municipal clients with a technical knowledge of general and highway construction preferred.
  • Prior experience working on federally aided, transportation projects as a construction inspector preferred.
  • Prior experience with Appia software and/or CEES.
  • Familiarity with NYSDOT's Manual of Uniform Record Keeping (MURK).
  • Team player who enjoys working collaboratively with others.
  • Strong mathematics skills.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the construction inspection of bridge and/or highway construction projects including measuring and calculating quantities and documenting work with daily work reports, photos, and sketches.
  • Oversee and coordinate documentation of construction inspection.
  • Ensure work is completed in accordance with NYSDOT specifications.
  • Apply project plans, along with company policies, guidelines, standards, specifications to the work and make decisions.
  • Maintain project documentation and communicate with individuals at all levels of the project.
  • Coordinate activities on the project site and resolve problems related to the work.
