Supernal provides an inviting open-space workplace designed to foster collaboration, which aligns with one of our core values. This position is required to work on-site 5 days a week. The Senior CFD Engineer will provide Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Analysis to support various components of Flight Sciences, including air vehicle design, component testing and flight testing. This role will interface regularly with the broader Flight Sciences team, and will be responsible for analysis, data management, best practices, supporting design due diligence and serve as a source of technical guidance to the larger CFD team. This role requires presence in the office 5 days a week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant engineering field
  • 10+ years of experience in the aerospace industry (an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered for this role)
  • Demonstrated history of successful contributions in progressively more senior roles
  • Strong experience applying state-of-the-art CFD analysis techniques
  • Solid foundation in fluid dynamics and aerodynamic theory
  • Proven ability to apply CFD to evaluate new and novel aerospace technologies
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • High degree of organization, attention to detail, and analytical rigor
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and deliver within schedule constraints
  • Conduct oneself with integrity, professionalism, and discretion
  • Ability to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree or Ph.D. preferred
  • Hands-on experience with FUN3D and/or OVERFLOW2 strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with rotorcraft comprehensive analysis tools (RCAS, FLIGHTLAB, CAMRAD II) a strong plus
  • Experience in VTOL aeromechanics and/or eVTOL vehicle development a strong plus

Responsibilities

  • Plan, execute, and deliver high-fidelity CFD analyses to support air vehicle design and testing across multiple development phases
  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor to other CFD engineers, promoting best practices and engineering rigor
  • Develop and maintain aerodynamic databases to support flight simulation and vehicle performance assessment
  • Perform analysis of interactional aerodynamics at both component and full-vehicle levels
  • Establish robust Design of Experiments (DOE) methodologies and develop repeatable, automated workflows to improve computational efficiency
  • Develop and apply CFD methodologies for emerging and unconventional technologies, ensuring sound engineering judgment and credibility
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to conduct trade studies and inform key design decisions
  • Support design reviews, technical reviews, and program milestones with high-quality analysis and clear communication
  • Perform other duties as assigned
