About The Position

BASF Coatings LLC (“Coatings”) is seeking an experienced Compliance professional to enhance the Compliance Program initiatives globally. Prior experience of managing compliance systems and developing training is required. The position reports operationally to the Head of Corporate Compliance in Germany and functionally aligns with the Head of Legal, Compliance & Insurance Americas in Southfield, working closely with the global compliance team across the different Coatings divisions. BASF and Carlyle, in partnership with the Qatar Investment Authority, have entered into a binding agreement related to BASF’s Coatings and surface treatments businesses. Pending customary regulatory approvals, the transaction is expected to close in Q2 2026. This role is critical to the execution of the transaction and future success of the business.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in legal, business, compliance, or related field; a legal background is preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience, with at least 5 years dedicated to compliance, ethics, or related governance roles; experience in an international manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated experience managing compliance programs/systems and developing/implementing training.
  • Strong understanding of core compliance risk areas such as anti-corruption, fair competition/antitrust, conflicts of interest, workplace ethics, human rights, environmental and safety compliance, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to translate complex compliance matters into clear, practical guidance for employees at all levels.
  • Strong project management abilities, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across cultures, functions, and geographies; Spanish and/or German language skills are a plus.
  • Strategic thinker with sound judgement, business acumen, and a commitment to high ethical standards.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with diverse teams; proactive, resourceful, and client-service oriented.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15% locally and globally.

Responsibilities

  • Program Management: Support the ongoing development, implementation, and monitoring for Coatings global compliance program. Contribute to the creation, rollout, and enforcement of policies, procedures, and controls.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and maintain compliance training system including topic-specific modules and role-based learning. Support the regional Compliance Officers with global training initiatives and adapt content for regional needs as needed.
  • Advisory: Provide practical, business-focused compliance guidance to leadership and employees on a range of topics including anti-corruption, anti-trust, conflicts of interest, data protection/privacy, appropriate workplace conduct, and other compliance risk areas.
  • Governance and Collaboration: Support regional compliance governance activities, including committee preparation, reporting, and monitoring tasks. Collaborate closely with global and regional compliance colleagues, serving as a point of contact for North America within the Coatings compliance network.
  • Risk Monitoring and Mitigation: Help identify emerging compliance risks, recommend risk mitigation strategies, and participate in compliance risk assessments.
