About The Position

Responsible for the job and salary analysis function for all SHS positions. Conducts research and analysis for benchmarking and slotting of individual jobs; market analysis and survey completion for the system. Provides cost projections and union contract scenarios as needed. Advises recruiting, compensation staff, and managers regarding compensation policies, practices, and equity issues and informs Compensation Director of emerging issues. Assists with compensation costing/budget planning, union contract and compensation plan implementation, and manager training. Stays abreast of changes in the healthcare compensation environment. As part of the Human Resources team, the Compensation department provides centralized management of compensation and benefits programs that enable SHS to be market competitive and meet compliance and equity objectives. The Compensation team provides professional and knowledgeable guidance and support to management, other HR functions and employees in the orientation, implementation and equitable administration of compensation and benefits. The team is also responsible for the job description function and for delivering performance management tools to assist in developing talent within the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with specialized Human Resource training or equivalent experience required.
  • Five (5) years recent Human Resources experience with three (3) years in-depth knowledge of compensation systems and state and federal regulations required.
  • Experience or training in computer applications, especially spreadsheets and data management required.
  • Human Resources - Possess knowledge and ability to interpret and apply human resources policies, procedures, practices, programs, Federal/State employment laws, labor contracts, and employment agreements.
  • Confidentiality - Ensures confidentiality of employee and protected health information. Ability to use discretion when processing and handling sensitive human resources issues.
  • Communication - Effective written and verbal communication skills to perform group presentations, tactfully discuss issues, and listen to and understand complex information/situations. Ability to work with all levels within the organization, facilitate communication, and effectively document related activities.
  • Computer Literacy - Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and data management tools.
  • Problem Solving - Ability to identify complex problems, analyze related information, employ creativity and alternative thinking to develop and evaluate options, build consensus and implement effective solutions. Skilled in information gathering and critical thinking.

Nice To Haves

  • Human Resources certification of SPHR, PHR or CCP preferred.
  • Accounting or financial background strongly preferred.
