At Arista, we take pride in our track record of success and strive to maintain the highest standards of quality and performance in everything we do.Who You'll Work WithThe Commodity Manager is responsible to develop Arista's commodity strategies for Thermal / Heat Sinks (experience with Front end Power Supplies is a plus) in order to drive time to market, continuity of supply and meet cost reduction initiatives. You'll work across the supply chain to support operations and will be collaborating closely with Engineering on sourcing strategies.    The role will require the individual to be familiar with the complete range of strategic sourcing activities. This includes the analysis of spend, the formulation of and implementation of commodity strategies, the negotiation of contracts and the ongoing management of strategic supplier relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations or Engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in a networking environment (preferred), electronics or electrical, purchasing, commodity management and materials management positions.
  • Excellent Program and Project Management Skills.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Process Variation Reduction (Six Sigma) concepts and tool sets as they relate to materials management.
  • Utilize strong team building abilities to lead cross-functional process improvement teams and lead change within the organization.
  • Ability to coordinate cross-site, multi-functional objectives.
  • Ability to interface and positively influence at all levels through excellent communication skills.
  • Understanding of assigned commodities, materials, and manufacturing processes.
  • Strong PC application skills.  Including complement of Microsoft Office Software, with strong capabilities in Project and Access.

Responsibilities

  • Creates, implements, and maintains sourcing strategies for assigned commodities to support company requirements.
  • Undertakes spend analysis, supplier assessment and supplier selection to agreed processes.
  • Develops and implements commodity strategies in line with company and manufacturing initiatives to improve supply chain efficiencies and reduce the total cost of supply chain management.
  • Builds cost models (TAC/should cost) to validate commodity strategies and to understand cost drivers.
  • Coordinates all activities with Engineering, NPI, and suppliers to ensure the selection of parts with long lifetimes and solid supply availability.
  • Working with the site supply chain leads, this individual will manage relationships with suppliers on behalf of Arista.
  • Develops a robust commodity supply base which creates and sustains a competitive advantage for Arista, utilizing global markets, leveraging spend, and best in class technologies.
  • Monitors/reports on priority projects and savings.
  • Ensures that agreed strategic sourcing targets for cost reduction are met in the commodity  portfolio. This includes responsibility for meeting improvement plan targets and year on year cost reductions.
  • Provides support to NPI teams as required to meet target costs and establish program cost models.
  • Negotiations and management of cost models for suppliers to include "hard" money (such as price, volume discounts, etc.) and "soft" money (such as expertise, technical backup, etc.) in the context of Total Acquisition Cost (TAC) and Total Opportunity Cost (TOC).
  • Identification and delivery of opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Provides input for annual and long-term savings targets.
  • Trains/Mentors junior supply chain personnel on strategic sourcing process.
  • Ensures appropriate performance measure (Technology, Quality, Cost and Delivery) of supply base and feedback of results.
