About The Position

AmTrust Financial Services, Inc., a growing commercial insurance holding company, has an immediate need for a Sr. Commercial Title Examiner to work in our Houston, Austin, or Dallas location. This role involves abstracting and analyzing chain of title from Patent to present, performing online searches from various sources, and conducting title examination to determine ownership, restrictions, and encumbrances, including deed plot to ensure property closure. The examiner will abstract and examine residential, acreage, builder, commercial, and energy properties, and identify, report, and resolve any title gaps or issues. Responsibilities also include preparing title reports, commitments, and proformas based on procedural guidelines, and collaborating with underwriters to ensure adherence to underwriting and company guidelines. The position may also involve training and mentoring subordinate staff as needed, and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years’ experience as a Texas Commercial Title Examiner or 1-3 years’ experience as a Commercial Energy Title Examiner.
  • Must be proficient in abstracting and examining complex properties.
  • Detail orientated, strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, able to multi-task, able to work independently, balance multiple projects while still reaching deadline goals.
  • Required to be able to abstract back to Patent, examine, create title commitments and hyperlink.
  • Strong communication and analytical review skills required both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work remote, hybrid or in-house if needed.
  • Ability to work overtime to hit deadlines as needed.
  • Must be able to obtain state license(s) if required.

Nice To Haves

  • National experienced desired but not required.
  • ResWare, Qualia, Title Data and Integrity Title software usage desired but not required.
  • Able to do proformas a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Abstract and examine residential, acreage, builder, commercial and energy properties.
  • Identify, report and resolve title gaps or issues.
  • Prepare title reports, commitments and proformas based on procedural guidelines.
  • Work with underwriter to ensure working within underwriting and company guidelines.
  • Train and mentor subordinate staff as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
