About The Position

Skylo is hiring a Senior Cloud Networking Engineer to design, implement, and optimize networking solutions across our cloud environments. You will be responsible for ensuring secure, scalable, and high-performing network connectivity for our global systems. This role will partner closely with cloud, DevOps, and security teams to deliver reliable cloud networking architectures that meet the needs of a growing, mission-critical platform.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in network engineering, with at least 3+ years in cloud networking.
  • Deep knowledge of AWS VPC networking, GCP VPC & VPC-SC, or Azure Virtual Networks.
  • Strong background in routing, BGP, DNS, firewalls, and load balancing in cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Experience with Kubernetes networking (CNI, service mesh, ingress/egress).
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with security tools, monitoring, and observability (Datadog, Prometheus, ELK, etc.).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Certifications: AWS Advanced Networking Specialty, GCP Professional Cloud Network Engineer, CCNP/CCIE, or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SD-WAN, private interconnects (Direct Connect, Cloud Interconnect, ExpressRoute).
  • Hands-on knowledge of API security, service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), and zero-trust networking.
  • Prior experience in high-availability, large-scale, or regulated industries (fintech, telecom, healthtech).

Responsibilities

  • Architect and maintain networking solutions in AWS and GCP including VPCs, subnets, routing, peering, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Design and configure load balancing, API gateways, private service access, and service meshes for modern application environments.
  • Implement and manage cloud-based firewalls, NAT, VPNs, and SD-WAN solutions.
  • Optimize network performance, latency, and availability for distributed systems.
  • Enforce network security best practices, including zero-trust principles, segmentation, and encryption in transit.
  • Partner with the security team to monitor for vulnerabilities, misconfigurations, and potential threats.
  • Support compliance requirements (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, GDPR, etc.) through secure network design.
  • Lead advanced troubleshooting of network connectivity, latency, and throughput issues.
  • Build automation scripts and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Pulumi, etc.) for network provisioning.
  • Maintain observability and monitoring tools to ensure health and reliability of network services.
  • Provide on-call support for critical infrastructure networking issues.
  • Work closely with Cloud Architect, cloud infrastructure, and application teams to ensure networking aligns with business requirements.
  • Contribute to long-term cloud networking strategy, including multi-cloud and hybrid connectivity.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to documentation, standards, and best practices.
