We are looking for a Senior Cloud Engineer to join us, to help keep Kingfisher’s data transformation platform stable, secure and ready to scale and support teams across the business to make better, data‑led decisions. Working in a Google Cloud Platform environment, you’ll balance operational excellence with continuous improvement, contributing to a platform that enables innovation and growth across Kingfisher.
This role will be based out of our B&Q Head Office just outside Southampton, with an expectation of 12 days a month in the office. There is also out of hours support required with this role - 24/7 support every one in six weeks.

Requirements

• Strong hands‑on experience working with Google Cloud Platform (and/or Azure), including BigQuery, Dataproc, Databricks and data integration workflows.
• Proven experience using Terraform for Infrastructure as Code in GCP.
• Solid understanding of GCP networking.
• Experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, Cloud Deploy or comparable DevOps tooling.
• Solid understanding of cloud networking and security best practices.
• Experience collaborating within data or platform engineering teams, with a clear, inclusive communication style.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability, performance and scalability of the data transformation platform, responding to operational needs and stakeholder feature requests.
• Design, build and optimise cloud infrastructure and CI/CD workflows.
• Develop and maintain reliable CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployments, supporting safe and efficient delivery.
• Continuously identify opportunities to improve platform stability, resilience and security, proposing practical enhancements.
• Work closely with data engineers, developers and security colleagues to deliver well‑designed, well‑documented solutions.
• Create and maintain clear, up‑to‑date documentation for the platform and new features.
