About The Position

You will own the delivery and operation of VFX’s Azure-based cloud platform, with a strong focus on Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and Terragrunt, and containerised workloads on Azure Container Apps. This is a hands-on role responsible for building and evolving reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure. You will ensure platform changes are delivered safely and consistently through automation, while contributing to the ongoing improvement of architecture, standards, and operational practices across the platform. This role can be hybrid at our office in Portimao or fully remote across Portugal.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in cloud or platform engineering roles
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments
• Deep experience with Terraform and Terragrunt (non-negotiable)
• Proven experience building reusable IaC modules and managing multi-environment setups
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions preferred)
• Experience deploying and operating containerised workloads (Azure Container Apps preferred)
• Strong understanding of Azure networking, identity (Entra ID), and security
• Experience supporting highly available, scalable systems
• Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills across infrastructure and deployments
• Ability to independently deliver infrastructure while aligning with platform standards

Nice To Haves

• Direct experience with Azure Container Apps (scaling rules, revisions, ingress)
• Experience with observability tooling (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics)
• Experience with event-driven architectures (queues, async workloads)
• Experience in regulated environments (fintech, payments)

Responsibilities

• Own the delivery of infrastructure across the Azure platform using Terraform and Terragrunt
• Build and maintain reusable, scalable IaC modules and multi-environment configurations
• Design and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions for infrastructure and platform services
• Deploy and operate containerised workloads on Azure Container Apps
• Ensure secure, consistent, and auditable infrastructure deployments
• Drive improvements in reliability, scalability, and operational performance
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure, networking, and deployment issues
• Implement and improve observability, monitoring, and incident response practices
• Apply and enforce best practices for Azure networking, identity, and security
• Collaborate with engineering teams to support microservice-based systems
• Optimise cost and resource utilisation across Azure
