This is a Senior Cloud Engineer position that requires industry experience. You should be passionate for engineering simple solutions to complex problems. You will be focused on improving the developer experience around consuming cloud services. You will be aligned and accountable for helping our business lines to execute on their cloud transformation strategy. This role will have a Hybrid work schedule, with the expectation of working in an office (Columbus, OH, Chicago, IL, Hartford, CT or Charlotte, NC) 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Requirements

  • >10 years of professional experience managing compute infrastructure in an on-premises or cloud environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and CloudFormation.
  • Experience with GitHub for version control and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions.
  • Scripting experience such as PowerShell, Bash or Python.
  • Server administration skills on Windows and Linux based operating systems.
  • Knowledgeable with using generative AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Amazon Q.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, VPCs, subnets, and security best practices as they relate to compute deployments.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • A passion for engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to work across cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related discipline.
  • Strong documentation skills in creating and maintaining operational policies and procedures.
  • A desire for continuous learning.
  • Candidate must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.
  • The company will not support the STEM OPT I-983 Training Plan endorsement for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement compute architectures that meet application requirements and organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with application teams to architect scalable, secure, and high-performing compute solutions that align with enterprise standards.
  • Image building using tools like HashiCorp Packer to build templates and AMIs.
  • Build and maintain compute product modules using Terraform following best practices.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of designing and building automation for compute provisioning and automate repetitive tasks using infrastructure as code tools, including Ansible and Terraform.
  • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and high availability strategies.
  • Proficient at preparing deployment and standard operational procedure manuals.
  • Manage source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD workflows using GitHub.
  • Automate the monitoring and alerting of compute performance and availability.
  • Evaluate new product releases and make recommendations on implementation of newest versions.
  • Integrate workflows with ServiceNow for change and incident management.
  • Provide second-level support for troubleshooting production incidents.
