About The Position

This role will cover MI, OH, IN, Western PA, and WV. This role will report into the regional Medical science liaison directors and will be an embedded intricate part of the field based medical team. The role’s primary function is to educate and support these CSL thought leaders in the important task of clinically managing the MS patient’s journey from diagnosis through successful management of the disease process via appropriate treatment options. This includes education and support surrounding how to have efficient and effective diagnosis, treatment & product transition conversations with their patients and how to best support patient expectations surrounding new and existing treatments and side effects. Additionally, the CSL will work actively to support their thought leaders in implementing active patient compliance and adherence programs for their MS patients as while also increasing their TL’s scientific knowledge and MS disease state awareness and understanding. This position will be a key member of the Biogen field-facing teams and will ensure excellent communication between both Biogen cross-functional and Nurse/APC/Patient support TL constituents, in the effort to support the Biogen commitment to APC/Nurse TL’s and our patients. This is a front line field position responsible for establishing, fostering, and maintaining relationships with Nursing/Advance Practice Clinicians to assure outstanding product clinical and scientific knowledge, disease state awareness, and clinical management. Biogen US Medical is seeking energetic, field-based clinical science liaison(s) to provide clinical education and support to APC’s, nurses and patient support staff (CSL “thought leaders”) within MS centers and among providers of MS care.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the primary clinical/scientific resource for Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) and Nursing TLs to provide information pertaining to disease state and clinical management of patients
  • Support the APC/Nurse/patient support professionals in the effective management of the initiation of Biogen MS therapies as well as side effect management, therapy transition decision and management and treatment adherence and compliance support
  • Provide reactive clinical protocol expertise to APC/Nurse/Investigators for use in company sponsored and investigator initiated trials and ensure they are consistent with the company’s objectives, FDA regulations and necessary approvals
  • Act as a clinical/scientific and patient management resource and provide guidance (when requested) within the commercial organization for information pertaining to the MS disease state, Biogen treatments and education surrounding how APC/Nurse/Patient support service professionals manage patients effectively
  • Keeps current with published literature in their therapeutic area of specialization
  • Provide support to MSL/CSL function and operations through project & strategy teams
  • Ensures timely and accurate documentation from all field interactions per company policy and requirements
  • Adhere to all company and regulatory agency guidelines regarding clinical investigation, dissemination of information and ethical conduct
  • Liaison between these TLs and key internal stakeholders to reflect current practice patterns and increase awareness of unmet clinical and educational needs for these practitioners.
  • Act as a clinical and scientific resource to key nursing/APC professional groups at the local level or as requested (IOMSN, etc)
