The Senior Clinical Pastoral Education Program Manager, under the direction of department leadership, is responsible for planning, implementing, supervising, and evaluating the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. This role involves developing project plans and timelines, coordinating resources, and collaborating with various functional areas throughout Christiana Care.

Requirements

  • M.Div. or equivalent required.
  • 2-3 years’ experience as ACPE, Inc. Certified Educator required.
  • Knowledge of supervision for pastoral education.
  • Knowledge of major faith groups.
  • Knowledge of pastoral theology.
  • Knowledge of effective interviewing.
  • Knowledge of pastoral assessment.
  • Knowledge of dynamics of loss and grief.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention.
  • Knowledge of psychosocial adjustment to illness and hospitalization.
  • Knowledge of medical record documentation.
  • Ability to maintain accreditation and certification documentation digitally in accordance to ACPE, Inc requirements.
  • Ability to act proactively and coordinate multiple tasks to meet deadlines while focusing on quality standards.

Nice To Haves

  • BA or BS degree or equivalent preferred.
  • 3-5 years’ experience as hospital chaplain preferred.
  • Board Certified Chaplain, Association of Professional Chaplains.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with department leadership to plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate Clinical Pastoral Education programs.
  • Meets regularly with chaplain interns and residents for individual supervisory sessions.
  • Plans and meets regularly with chaplain interns and residents in group for seminar.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to monitor and maintain program budget effectively.
  • Generates and evaluates reports and trends on the Clinical Pastoral Education programs for the department leadership.
  • Collaborates with department leadership to develop and maintain all practices of the program in accordance with ACPE.
  • Maintains all ACPE accreditation records and portfolios.
  • Responsible for reviewing and addressing any concerns (verbal, written, R2L) regarding chaplain residents.
  • Planning and execution of annual CPE celebration.
  • Responsible for engaging Human Resource partners during the recruitment/hiring of new residents; and subsequently when issues arise.
  • Evaluate and coach CPE interns and residents to achieve performance standards and departmental goals.
  • Continually assess and implement the CPE residency’s and internship’s performance improvement programs.
  • Demonstrate compliance with CCHS and departmental policies and procedures and mandatory education requirements.
  • Performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices, reports to Manager, in a timely manner, any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other caregivers, patients and visitors.
  • Perform additional tasks and functions as needed and directed to accomplish the purpose of the CPE programs.
