About The Position

In collaboration with appropriate clinical departments, relevant support departments, and information technology, the Sr. Clinical Informatics Analyst supports the core functions of the enterprise clinical information systems to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. This position assists physicians, nurses, and other clinicians with issue resolution related to the electronic health record (EHR) and other clinical applications. The Sr. Clinical Informatics Analyst supports core functions of the health system's applications to enable cost-effective, high quality, efficient, and safe patient care. This position will implement, administer, and support assigned systems under the minimal guidance of senior members of the team. The position will have a good understanding of Epic modules, ancillary systems, and health system operations. Why this role matters: • You will directly impact patient safety and the efficiency of oncology clinical trials by building precise IDS (Investigational Drug Study) chemotherapy protocols in Epic Beacon. • You’ll translate complex trial protocols into reliable EMR configurations, collaborating with nurses, pharmacists, oncologists, and IT to ensure every order, lab, and cycle is correctly set up. • You’ll work within Stanford Health Care’s governance and standards to uphold regulatory compliance, quality, and patient-first care while enabling groundbreaking research.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Epic Beacon functionality and chemotherapy workflows.
  • Experience with oncology treatment plans and investigational drug studies.
  • Ability to interpret clinical trial protocols and translate them into Epic EMR build requirements.
  • Detail-oriented mindset with a strong focus on accuracy and patient safety.
  • Proficiency in Epic EMR configuration and clinical application support.
  • Mid-level Microsoft Office skills

  • Bachelor's Degree Nursing Bachelor's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Pharmacy, Nursing or Medicine.
  • 5 or more years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain IDS Investigational Drug Study chemotherapy protocols in Epic Beacon for clinical trials.
  • Configure medications, labs, treatment cycles, and related orders according to protocol specs provided by the Principal Investigator (PI) and CRC study/validation teams.
  • Collaborate with nurses, pharmacists, and oncology providers to validate regimen accuracy and ensure real-world workflow practicality.
  • Ensure compliance with institutional standards, regulatory requirements, and study-specific guidelines.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to protocol configuration and order workflows to minimize disruption to trial operations.
  • Participate in testing and validation of new protocols before deployment to production.
  • Maintain thorough documentation of build processes and version control for investigational studies.
  • Work across Epic application teams to maintain build standards, adhere to style guides, and follow best practices.
  • Participate in governance councils to stay informed about cross-impact changes to IDS Beacon protocols.
  • Adhere to project timelines and deliverables for protocol implementation.
  • Act as second level of support and triages system problems within the department’s workflow, policies and procedures
  • Assist in the implementation of medium complexity tools and workflows
  • Collaborate with other senior members of the team in managing the resolution of problems and implementation of changes to the department’s information systems
  • Provide tier-2 support of application incidents reported through the help desk; including 24/7 on call coverage as required
  • Provide analytical assistance to junior team members to resolve application incidents, maintenance items, and enhancement requests
  • Perform daily monitoring of applications in production use
  • Coordinate application support with other information technology teams including Infrastructure, Integration, Reporting, and the help desk
  • Lead small to medium complexity software upgrade initiatives or enhancements to workflows including the design, build, and test phases
  • Modify tables/master files, make additions and changes under the direction of senior team members
  • Implement changes using documented procedures that are compliant with department’s policies and procedures
  • Take ownership of low to medium complexity issues and act as a liaison between customer and other support staff to facilitate resolution
  • Work with and mentor junior staff members to document workflows
  • Assist senior team members in developing and maintaining requirements/specifications and test cases for new or enhanced functionality to department applications
  • Participate in team and cross-team meetings and maintain appropriate meeting records
