Job Overview: The Senior Clinical Applications Analyst is a key technical contributor responsible for supporting and enhancing clinical applications through solid workflow understanding, structured organization, and effective communication with both operational users and technical teams. The role applies advanced troubleshooting techniques, including SQL, to diagnose issues, support system optimization, and contribute to application design and configuration. Senior Analysts work closely with business units to understand operational needs, translate them into system requirements, and assist in coordinating upgrades, enhancements, and projects. They also provide guidance to junior analysts, collaborate with vendors to address application concerns, and ensure that clinical applications function reliably and efficiently within the broader IT ecosystem.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field, along with a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience.
  • Proven experience in application support, analysis, or a similar role.
  • Familiarity with databases, software development life cycles (SDLC), and business process analysis.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical applications or healthcare IT systems (e.g. Epic, Cerner, etc)
  • Expertise with troubleshooting tools, SQL, and scripting languages.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills being most critical.

  • Experience with project management or working in Agile/Scrum environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the design, configuration, testing, and implementation of clinical application solutions.
  • Maintain and enhance troubleshooting, application maintenance, and build processes, assisting with documentation as needed.
  • Resolve development and support tickets including participation in on-call rotations, ensuring timely follow-up and escalation when appropriate.
  • Provide technical expertise to peers and assist in workload planning when requested.
  • Prepare clear reports and updates for stakeholders on assigned initiatives.
  • Build collaborative relationships with clinical and operational teams, offering informed recommendations within scope.
  • Maintain awareness of relevant technologies and industry trends, sharing insights with the team.
  • Troubleshoot complex system issues using SQL and analytical tools.
  • Lead small/medium projects, ensuring alignment with established methodologies and timelines.
  • Independently manage observability and monitoring for a defined portfolio of enterprise applications, focusing on maintaining and enhancing tracing and alerting frameworks to improve signal quality and reduce noise.

  • Train users on application functionality and address technical questions within assigned areas.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of user documentation and job aids.
  • Collaborate with IT and business units to resolve application issues and clarify requirements.
  • Participate in planning and implementation activities for new applications, upgrades, and enhancements.
  • Assist in gathering business requirements and translating them into technical inputs.
  • Execute testing for new features, updates, and defect fixes, documenting results.
  • Support application upgrade activities and change management processes.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to streamline workflows and improve user experience.
  • Analyze business processes to help ensure alignment with application capabilities.
  • Understand how workflow and configuration decisions affect system behavior and downstream processes.
  • Assist in periodic reviews to ensure compliance and system alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve application issues.
  • Communicate system performance updates and risks to stakeholders.
  • Assist with vendor and third-party coordination as needed.
