About The Position

This is a Career Service Senior Clerk position working in the Lee County Department of Health. The Senior Clerk position provides support to Healthy Start and Community Health. Incumbent performs clerical functions at both the Michigan and Pondella Clinics as needed and participates in clinic events that may require clerical personnel on evenings, weekends, and during regular business hours. This position has access to applicable information required to perform the job. Incumbent handles protected health information on a need-to-know basis following Department of Health and Information Security Policies, Protocols, and Procedures. Incumbent abides by state and federal laws governing health and personal information. Incumbent is responsible to maintain confidentiality, security, privacy, and integrity of protected health information.

Requirements

Responsibilities

  • Performs registration functions including but not limited to scanning id, insurance card, initiation of service form, and other forms.
  • Complete financial eligibility process.
  • Enters Healthy Start Prenatal and Postnatal screenings in system.
  • Transfers immunization history in system.
  • Assists doctors’ offices, hospitals, and other agencies with Healthy Start screening requests and questions.
  • Sorts and distributes incoming mail to appropriate department.
  • Files, makes copies, and prepares packets.
  • Files documents in electronic filing system for retention.
  • Assists department with projects as needed.
  • Responsible for maintenance of contraceptive dispenser.
  • Receives deliveries from vendors.
  • Organizes and notifies departments of supply arrival.
  • Responsible for closing the pedestrian gate every business afternoon.
  • Assists county maintenance in the absence of facility personnel.
  • Escorts shredding company throughout DOH Lee facility
  • Attends required meetings and training and remains current of all policies and protocol.
  • Completes weekly leave/attendance records and daily employee activity records (EARs) within required time frame.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
