About The Position

The Senior Claims Consultant plays a critical role in managing a complex caseload, primarily focused on crime claims , with potential involvement in management liability and cyber matters. This position requires a proactive, analytical professional who can resolve claims efficiently while adhering to company best practices and authority guidelines. The consultant will conduct thorough coverage analyses, assess exposure, establish appropriate reserves, and evaluate recovery potential. Collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders—including agents, insureds, and legal counsel—is essential to ensure high-quality claims handling and superior service delivery.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience handling crime claims or relevant litigation experience as a coverage attorney
  • Strong knowledge of insurance claims processes and the legal/regulatory landscape
  • Proven analytical and decision-making capabilities within authority limits
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including negotiation and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize tasks and seek support when needed
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoroughness
  • Ability to obtain and maintain required adjuster licenses within 90 days
  • Collaborative team player with a flexible, agile mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Employment Practices Liability (EPL), Directors & Officers (D&O), or Cyber claims is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth analysis of liability and damages to establish accurate reserves aligned with exposure
  • Evaluate complex coverage issues and draft clear, well-reasoned coverage position letters
  • Independently investigate, negotiate, and resolve claims with minimal oversight
  • Appoint, manage, and evaluate the performance of outside counsel
  • Exercise sound judgment within designated claim authority and escalate matters appropriately
  • Maintain meticulous documentation in compliance with internal claims handling standards
  • Represent the company at mediations, settlement conferences, and trials—virtually or in person as needed
  • Deliver exceptional service to both internal stakeholders and external clients
  • Provide underwriting support by sharing insights on risk exposure and claim trends
  • Identify emerging issues or trends with broader implications for the organization
  • Ensure compliance with state licensing requirements and maintain all necessary credentials
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
