About The Position

Parsons is looking for a talented Senior Civil Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to lead exciting Civil Engineering and Transportation Projects. Overview Parsons is seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer to support our transportation infrastructure projects across the West Coast region. This is a remote position based in Oregon, with the opportunity to collaborate with a global team that delivers award‑winning programs and leverages advanced technologies to remain at the forefront of the transportation market. You will support roadway design projects for state and local transportation agencies and municipalities, contributing to a variety of conventional and alternative delivery (including design-build) projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of related civil roadway/highway design experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.
  • If PE is active in another state, ability and intent to obtain Oregon PE within 12 months of hire is expected.
  • Proficiency with CAD and related engineering software; experience with MicroStation and AutoCAD Civil 3D preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with traffic control/MOT design, including temporary striping and flagging plans, is highly desirable.
  • Experience with state DOT or municipal transportation projects is a plus.
  • Experience with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Experience with stormwater facility design and Best Management Practices (BMP’s)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and perform a variety of roadway and highway design and analysis tasks.
  • Develop horizontal and vertical alignments, analyze cross-sections, calculate superelevation, and prepare grading plans.
  • Prepare and review plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E) for procurement and construction.
  • Design highway interchanges, ramps, roundabouts, toll lanes, intersection improvements, and roadway rehabilitations/widenings.
  • Perform complex engineering calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates.
  • Produce designs using MicroStation, InRoads/OpenRoads, and Civil 3D (or similar platforms).
  • Coordinate and interface with multidisciplinary engineering teams and other internal groups.
  • Develop and review traffic control and Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans; familiarity with construction methods and sequencing is highly desirable.
  • Review supplier and contractor submittals, perform technical bid analyses, and provide design clarifications during construction.
  • Prepare and issue technical specifications, datasheets, and other construction documentation.
  • May provide professional engineer stamp and signature, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, regulations, and standards.
  • Perform multi-modal facility designs.
  • Prepare stormwater calculations, reports and designs.
