About The Position

AECOM is seeking a Transportation Engineer with specialized experience in roundabout engineering and design to support transportation infrastructure projects throughout Wisconsin and throughout the US. In this role, you will serve as a technical lead responsible for advancing the planning and design of modern roundabout solutions for regional and state highway systems. This position will focus on delivering innovative intersection improvements that enhance safety, improve traffic operations, and support long-term mobility goals for transportation agencies. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering complex transportation projects already in progress while supporting a strong backlog of upcoming work. This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of technical design efforts, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across the transportation business line. Requirements

  • BA/BS + 8 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation design.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Valid Professional Traffic Operations Engineer License
  • Project Management Experience
  • Valid Professional Engineer License
  • Wisconsin DOT Level 1 or higher Qualified Roundabout Designer certificate

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead for the planning, engineering, and design of roundabouts on regional and state highway projects.
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and final design plans for modern roundabouts including geometric layout, lane configuration, and safety enhancements.
  • Perform traffic operations analysis related to intersection control alternatives, roundabout performance, and capacity modeling.
  • Prepare roadway geometry, design calculations, technical reports, and supporting documentation for transportation projects.
  • Lead design development using roadway design software and coordinate modeling efforts with other engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers supporting roundabout and roadway design tasks.
  • Coordinate with state and local transportation agencies to ensure compliance with applicable standards, policies, and design guidelines.
  • Support the delivery of large existing projects while contributing to the execution of a strong backlog of transportation work.
  • Participate in design reviews, project meetings, and technical presentations with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including traffic, structural, drainage, and environmental specialists to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.
