About The Position

Cenovus is an integrated energy company headquartered in Calgary, committed to maximizing value by developing assets in a safe, responsible, and cost-efficient manner. The company operates in Canada, the United States, and the Asia Pacific region, with downstream operations including upgrading, refining, and marketing in Canada and the United States. Cenovus is currently the largest refiner in Ohio, transporting products from its refineries in Lima and Toledo, Ohio, and Superior, Wisconsin, to customers throughout the United States. Other operations include oil sands projects in northern Alberta, thermal and conventional crude oil and natural gas projects across Western Canada, crude oil production offshore Newfoundland and Labrador, and natural gas and liquids production offshore China and Indonesia. The Senior Category Management Advisor conducts organizational analysis and implements process improvement initiatives to develop strategic plans aimed at securing the supply of goods and services across US assets, effectively managing associated price and supply risks. This role involves the efficient, effective, and ethical sourcing and contracting of external goods and services to generate value for the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Industrial Engineering or a related engineering field of study; will accept equivalent foreign degree.
  • Five (5) years of experience in the position above, Category Management Advisor, Market Intelligence & Category Advisor, Analytics Specialist or related engineering role.
  • Experience must include ARIBA and Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) Software.
  • Experience must include SAP ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning).
  • Experience must include Spotfire software.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct organizational analysis and implement process improvement initiatives to develop strategic plans aimed at securing the supply of goods and services across our US assets, effectively managing associated price and supply risks.
  • Conduct the sourcing and contracting of external goods and services in an efficient, effective, and ethical manner that generates value for the organization.
  • Conduct spend and supplier analysis within the defined category portfolio.
  • Leverage spend data, business requirements, external market data, and other necessary information to develop category strategies and influence implementation.
  • Assess risk and support the development of enterprise category strategies in partnership with budget owners to achieve overall Cenovus objectives.
  • Lead all aspects of complex sourcing initiatives including RFx activities, development of negotiation strategies and recommendations to award.
  • Develop negotiation plans and lead stakeholders through the negotiation process.
  • Review, interpret, analyze, and negotiate contracts while driving contract utilization through effective implementation plans.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams ensuring approved buying, receiving and transportation channels are leveraged to maximize efficiencies within the supply chain and ensure the goods and/or services are available for business functions’ consumption.
  • Ensure all data, information, and records are accurate and maintained approved repositories.
  • Ensure compliance to all applicable corporate policies, including the Supply Chain Management policy, as well as legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a network of relationships across assets including at the enterprise level.
  • Lead post-award activities including effective contract performance & supplier relationship management.
