Responsible for the new technology development for carbon capture with a focus on process modeling, simulation, and optimization. Applies chemical engineering principles, computational modeling tools and experimental skills to develop process models for innovative carbon capture facilities such as solvent absorption and sorbent adsorption processes. Performs sensitivity studies to understand and model thermodynamic, mass/heat transfer, and kinetic factors impacting carbon capture operations. Member of a multidisciplinary team, including chemists, chemical engineers, and mechanical engineers to develop carbon capture solutions. Identifies novel system configurations for improved carbon dioxide capture performance, with a focus on reliability and energy requirements, based on environmental and business constraints. Carries out novel short-term industrial research studies to resolve urgent technical problems related to carbon capture. Investigates new and developing technologies in industry and academia and determines how to leverage these technologies into digital solutions. Supports commercial strategies with technical research, market/competitor intelligence, policy understanding, and economic analysis. Participates in process engineering efforts for the development of large-scale R&D carbon-capture projects. Creates, executes, and improves process simulations for pilot-scale, demonstration, commercial projects, systems, and new products. Develops and delivers process models which meet the needs of R&D, Engineering, and Sales support teams. Provides training and knowledge sessions for process engineers and junior modelling engineers on process simulation. May allow for partial telecommuting on hybrid schedule.
