Job Description / Qualifications Job Summary Supports the Commodity Leader through execution of the purchase and ownership of inventory and facilitating inventory strategy alignment for the Company. White Cap Supply Holdings, LLC ("White Cap") serves as a one-stop shop providing concrete accessories and chemicals, tools and equipment, building materials and fasteners, erosion and waterproofing and safety products to professional contractors by meeting their distinct and customized supply needs in non-residential, residential and infrastructure end markets. White Cap operates nearly 400 branches across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 7,000 employees, and offers nearly 450,000 SKUs to approximately 150,000 customers. White Cap includes the Brafasco and NCA brands in Canada and multiple brands that fall under Construction Supply Group. White Cap was previously known as HD Supply Construction & Industrial and became an independent company in October 2020.

Requirements

  • Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline.
  • Generally 5-8 years of experience in a related field OR MS/MA and generally 3-5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Certification is required in some areas.
  • Complex Problem solving
  • Excel Advanced communication skills
  • Strong negotiation skills

Nice To Haves

  • Prior commodities purchasing experience
  • Knowledge of or industry experience with long steel products or lumber and panels

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates and executes inventory Strategy Alignment including ensuring appropriate service levels, inventory turns, inventory performance, best cost determination and supplier alignment.
  • Works with Account Managers and Inside Sales in identifying new opportunities, developing sales solutions, closing sales opportunities and negotiating pricing.
  • Establishes and maintains appropriate local supplier relationships.
  • Forecasts inventory needs for suppliers and sets appropriate inventory Min/Max's.
  • Understands competitive landscape and utilizes intel to facilitate strongest buys.
  • Responsible for resolution of aged/damaged inventory.
  • Identifies key barriers/core problems and applies problem solving skills in order to deal creatively with complex situations.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves complex problems.
  • Makes decisions under conditions of uncertainty, sometimes with incomplete information, that produce effective end results.
  • Independently performs assignments with instruction limited to the expected results.
  • Determines and develops an approach to solutions.
  • Receives technical guidance only on unusual or complex problems or issues.
  • May oversee the completion of projects and assignments, including planning, assigning, monitoring and reviewing progress and accuracy of work, evaluating results, etc.
  • Contributes to employees' professional development but does not have hiring or firing authority.
