About The Position

Ready to transform the future of higher education? Join us in shaping the future of WGU by improving the processes that power our mission. The Institutional Portfolio Management (IPM) department drives strategic execution across the WGU System by coordinating portfolios of initiatives and programs that align with 5-Year Strategic Plans. We lead critical transformation efforts for executive leaders, design innovative business processes to boost productivity and scale, and proactively identify enterprise-level risks. Our focus is on building core capabilities in Agile Innovation, Portfolio Management, and Rapid Technology Development, while maximizing efficiency through cost reduction and waste elimination. About the Business Process Engineering (BPE) Team The Business Process Engineering team is driven by a bold vision: to achieve business process excellence that transforms how we operate as an institution. We focus on optimizing the way WGU does business—end to end—to create meaningful value and positive impact for our students, employees, and the university as a whole. Our purpose is clear: we exist to deliver on WGU’s promises of productivity, efficiency, innovation, growth, scalability, and student success. Through thoughtful business process optimization, we empower our internal partners and elevate the student experience. The Role: Senior Business Process Engineer As a Senior Business Process Engineer, you’ll sit at the intersection of strategy, innovation, and impact. This is not a back-office process role. It’s a chance to architect the systems that will power how 180,000+ students learn, thrive, and graduate. You’ll lead some of WGU’s most critical enterprise initiatives, including building our next-generation Business Process Management (BPM) system of record and driving the maturity of process standards across the university. From enrollment to graduation, you’ll own full end-to-end student journey domains — designing, optimizing, and continuously improving them. And because our process ownership rotates, you’ll gain a unique opportunity to see how the business functions holistically and shape how an entire university operates end-to-end. If you’re passionate about driving clarity in complexity, influencing executives, and building systems that unlock scale and innovation, this role offers the freedom, visibility, and purpose you’ve been looking for.
