About The Position

This job helps REI succeed by leading the design, development, and delivery of key financial business tools. These tools support REI’s future Finance strategies and projects. As a senior business process analyst, this role is responsible for the quality and effectiveness of end-to-end financial processes. The analyst ensures that solution designs meet current business needs and support long-term operations, exceptional controls, and scalability. The Senior Business Process Analyst leads in setting process standards, governance, and key documents, especially when many projects share finance processes. This role balances leadership in future solution design with stewardship of current Finance applications. It ensures consistency, clarity, and alignment across initiatives. By combining an exceptional understanding of financial goals, processes, and operations with a process improvement mindset, technical aptitude, and project execution discipline, this role delivers meaningful capabilities and insights across the value chain. The Senior Business Process Analyst helps evaluate and prioritize work within budget and resource limits. The focus is on improving end-to-end processes, increasing efficiency, and enabling business confidence in financial outcomes. This role also models and acts according to REI’s guiding values, competencies, and mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in business process design, process improvement, or solution delivery supporting Finance organizations
  • Experience working in or supporting teams that use financial systems. This includes enterprise resource planning (ERP) platforms, budgeting and reporting tools, procurement systems, and tax engines.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Experience using Jira or similar work management tools.
  • Demonstrated experience facilitating business process design workshops and structured working sessions with end users and business stakeholders
  • Exceptional critical skills with the ability to explain complex financial and operational ideas. Can create clear process designs, business requirements, and actionable recommendations.
  • Demonstrated subject matter expertise across core end-to-end Finance process domains. These include Record to Report, Procure to Pay, Order to Cash, Inventory Accounting, and Treasury. This includes understanding how these processes work within an integrated ERP environment.
  • Proven ability to design and assess Finance business processes. Considers internal controls, audit requirements, financial close, reporting impacts, and enterprise risk implications.
  • Applies sound judgment, structured thinking, and business knowledge to solve complex problems and pursue improvement opportunities
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility with diverse stakeholders and leads cross‑functional collaboration to challenge existing practices, articulate tradeoffs, and influence management toward aligned, future‑state process and solution outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience supporting project based Finance initiatives in a complex, cross functional environment
  • Experience with ERP platforms such as SAP ECC and SAP S/4HANA. Experience with related Finance platforms, such as procurement, tax, or analytics solutions.
  • Experience applying business process improvement methods such as Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen
  • Exceptional data literacy. This includes interpreting financial data models, system outputs, reports, and integrations. Use this information to inform process design, impact assessment, and business decisions. No responsibility for hands-on software development or coding is required.

Responsibilities

  • Manages and participates in business process design workshops. Advocates for business users and understands industry-leading best practices across multiple financial disciplines. Enables best practices in these areas.
  • Partners with technology, project management and change management teams to support all financial strategies and initiatives.
  • Supports the use of industry best practices, company programs, procedures, methods, and practices. Promotes REI’s business strategies and growth targets.
  • Develop and maintain complete knowledge and documentation of financial processes. Include current and future processes, gaps, pain points, and applications. Cover business functionality, interfaces, data flow, and functional architecture.
  • Interprets business needs, builds business requirements or user stories, and guides solution development.
  • Provide deep subject matter expertise across core financial process areas. These include Record to Report, Order to Cash, Procure to Pay, Inventory Accounting, and Treasury. Ensure process and solution designs consider internal controls, audit needs, close and reporting impacts, and enterprise risk. Work closely with Controllership, Internal Audit, and FP&A.
  • Contributes to development of business cases and project value propositions.
  • Prepare requirements, functional specifications, user stories, business processes, and requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Participates in evaluation of technology solutions.
  • Reviews IT functional and non-functional requirements.
  • May participate in the design or development of division-specific tools.
  • Participates in medium to large sized projects in collaboration with cross divisional partners, most significantly Merchandising Information Technology (IT).
  • Participate in all project status meetings as the business manager. Attend daily stand-ups, sprint retrospectives, and sprint demonstrations for Agile projects. Join all other project meetings as required.
  • Assist in meeting all project deadlines, milestones, release dates and schedules.
  • May function as the Product Owner for projects using the Agile methodology and Scrum framework.
  • Guide backlog grooming/prioritization sessions to ensure sign-off by business and development teams
  • Provide input to the program leadership in the cadence, timing and dependencies of the various related business initiatives and projects
  • Apply project management best practices and standards and advocate them across the teams and organization.
  • Design and develop dashboards, reports, presentations, and visual aids. Use these tools to educate, inform, and influence business decisions of merchants and managers.
  • Develop and build test cases, work with QA teams, and conduct User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with end-users.
  • Develop and maintain business process documentation to support solution delivery and organizational readiness. Include current and future state process flows, role impacts, and operational considerations needed for successful adoption.
