Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is looking for a Senior Business Intake Researcher to join our team in our Seattle, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, or Washington D.C. offices. This position offers the flexibility to be fully remote while working within reasonable commuting distance from any of our offices. This senior position is responsible for performing a variety of complex tasks related to the screening of potential client engagements in accordance with the firm's risk management procedures and policies and guiding best practices. The position can be based through any of the firm's offices; remote work is possible. Requirements

  • 7-10+ years’ experience with compiling and analyzing risk assessment reports
  • Prior experience with corporate risk assessment research and analysis and/or investigative due diligence, including the ability to analyze, cross-reference and summarize findings from third-party proprietary databases and public records such as Dun and Bradstreet, Lexis, TLO, Bloomberg, etc.
  • Bachelor's Degree - Advanced legal or business degree or KYC/AML compliance certification preferred
  • Comparable due diligence experience required; advanced legal or business degree or KYC/AML compliance certification a plus
  • Understanding of KYC/AML requirements; ability to read financial statements; knowledge of and ability to analyze SEC filings; familiarity with current trends in the legal and financial services industries
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written
  • Meticulous attention to detail, analysis and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, team player able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong customer service skills, including understanding and responding quickly to a variety of inquiries
  • Ability to contribute ideas for process improvements

  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Intapp and data intake processing software

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze financial information, regulatory and litigation histories, and recent news from external corporate and governmental databases (such as Dun and Bradstreet, TLO, Bloomberg, Lexis, SEC, etc.) from a risk management and due diligence perspective
  • Work with intake attorneys and reviewing attorneys (Practice Group heads and Partners in Charge) responsible for new client and new matter intake in evaluating risk management issues related to new clients and matters. Work with litigation partners to assess financial viability of potential new matters through external corporate research and analysis; with a particular focus on potential new clients in practice groups and industries which require a higher and more complex level of due diligence and screening to ensure escalations are properly made, if needed
  • Run special searches as needed, to identify potential risk management or business issues with respect to incoming lateral attorneys, potential mergers, and other special circumstances
  • Draft reference guides and training material in consultation with the Business Intake Manager, and provide training as requested to other business intake researchers, other departments, and firm wide. Serve as a subject matter expert on research tools related to the screening of potential client engagements.
  • Participate in special projects involving new business intake best practices and risk management initiatives within the Information Governance department
  • Assist Conflicts and other departments with analyzing complex corporate structures and identifying parent companies and ultimate beneficial owners of entities; assist the Conflicts team as needed in assessing whether a conflict of interest exists under the applicable Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Partner with the Quality Assurance Committee (QAC) Paralegals to assist the Claims Counsel and General Counsel with interpreting and executing Litigation Holds, Subpoenas, and Protective Orders; and assist in the Outside Counsel Guidelines (OCG) intake process
  • Assist with other research and administrative tasks, and/or support cross-departmental teams as assigned
