About The Position

Shimmick is seeking a highly talented Senior Business Development / Preconstruction Coordinator to be based out of our Irvine CA office. The Senior Business Development / Preconstruction Coordinator will coodinate business development strategies, client databases, and pursuit management activities. At Shimmick, we are problem solvers. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years’ experience in sales, business development, market research, construction administration, estimating support, or related, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (heavy on excel and PowerPoint).

Nice To Haves

  • Sales, Business Development, or Preconstruction experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in sales, business development, preconstruction/estimating administration and/or related job roles
  • Familiarity with procurement portals and pursuit tracking processes.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the coordination of the company-wide business development program.
  • Performs customer outreach on potential new clients and projects..
  • Discusses customers’ preferred requirements and arranges for meetings between prospective customers and representatives of various company functional areas.
  • Research existing and prospective clients and projects to support business strategy.
  • Compiles and analyzes statistics pertinent to the company's business development.
  • Supports daily correspondence and activities of business development leadership.
  • Manages event registration, dues, sponsorships and memberships.
  • Attends and participates in industry outreach and events as needed.
  • Tracks, monitors, and logs bid opportunities across procurement portals, agency websites, and private client platforms.
  • Maintains an up-to-date pursuits pipeline, including opportunity status, key dates, and deadlines.
  • Enters and updates pursuits, activities, and notes within the CRM and business development databases.
  • Assists with early-stage pursuit planning in collaboration with business development, estimating, and preconstruction teams.
  • Works closely with preconstruction, estimating, proposal, and operations teams to coordinate pursuit and bid-related activities.
  • Supports internal pursuit meetings when needed.
  • Communicates pursuit schedules, deadlines, and deliverables clearly across internal teams.
  • Maintains calendars, prepares meeting agendas, and assists with the development of presentation and pursuit materials.
  • Supports pipeline database development, maintenance, and data integrity.
  • Updates databases with pursuit activities, contact information, and client interactions.
  • Maintains organized electronic records related to business development and pursuits.
  • Performs additional assignments as directed by management.
