About The Position

This position is responsible for: Participating in the day-to-day general maintenance and repair of Salvation Army buildings, vehicles, grounds, and equipment; may participate in more difficult repair work as needed; operates a Salvation Army vehicle to pick-up and/or deliver materials; assist in maintaining inventory of all Salvation Army property.

Requirements

  • Two years course work from a vocational or technical school in heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, electrical and construction trades, AND Five years progressively responsible experience performing skilled maintenance and repair work for commercial buildings and grounds, OR Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Must be cleared by Local Law Enforcement, State of Florida Dept. of Children and Families, FBI Level II background screens and credit checks.
  • Valid state driver's License with approved driving record.
  • This position requires a level 2 background screening.
  • Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing and some climbing.
  • Work requires driving a vehicle and working outdoors daily with exposure to physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, heat, or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance, janitorial, and/or housekeeping work; may train and instruct employees in the proper methods and procedures; monitors tasks in progress and upon completion to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors the preventative maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, utility equipment, and appliances; conducts routine inspections of vehicles, kitchen appliances, maintenance tools and equipment, as well as heat and air conditioning, telephone, security, and fire alarm systems on a routine basis.
  • Monitors contract services such as lawn maintenance, pest control, street lighting, and utilities services; may ensure vendor complies with terms of contract.
  • Participates in loss control and safety programs to improve and control injury and loss experiences.
