About The Position

The City of Bowie is seeking a Building Maintenance Worker who will be responsible for routine cleaning and minor maintenance work in municipal buildings, and on their adjacent grounds. The successful candidate will use proper methods and materials in cleaning and otherwise caring for buildings and equipment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Valid Driver’s License
• One (1) year experience in routine custodial work
• Lifting (up to 50 pounds)

Nice To Haves

• Knowledge of building cleaning, green building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment.
• Two (2) years of experience in floor maintenance specializing in Terrazzo floors.
• Knowledge of operation and care of janitorial equipment.

Responsibilities

• Cleans bathrooms
• Vacuums, mops, and cleans carpets
• Keeps maintenance and janitorial closets and shop clean
• Performs snowmelt related activities
• Maintain supply inventory
• Changes light bulbs. Replaces ceiling tiles
• Strips, Waxes, and buffs floors
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned
