Over the past twenty-five years, WSP's local construction management division and inspection team has experienced steady growth, contributing to significant projects such as VT's Missisquoi Bay Bridge replacement, MA's Green Line Extension, and NH's award-winning Mount Washington Hotel. WSP is currently seeking a Senior Bridge Construction Inspector to oversee new, replacement, or rehabilitated structures with construction values ranging from $1-$50 million. This position offers flexibility in location, with bases available in Portland, Augusta, or Eliot, ME, or Merrimack, NH. The inspector will be responsible for overseeing various construction elements, including excavation, backfilling, compaction, cast-in-place concrete (from formwork to reinforcement), installation of precast elements, bridge seats, bearings and joints, bridge rail, drainage, and other incidental items. The inspector will report directly to the Resident Engineer and may, depending on their experience, routinely or periodically act as the Resident Engineer's representative.

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• 9 years applicable experience
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret shop drawings, design plans and specifications.
• Have a valid driver's license.
• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.

Nice To Haves

• Associate of Science degree in Engineering or Construction Management, or related field.
• ACI or NETTCP certifications, or ability to attain within 3-months of hiring.
• Average proficiency with MS WORD Suite.
• Hands-on experience with construction management software such as Site or Field Manager, APPIA, Procore, IPD or similar systems.
• Knowledge of Bluebeam.
• Demonstrated supervisory skills.
• Any combination of college education, professional licenses, certifications and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Interfacing with contactors and attending meetings.
• Mentoring or supervising other inspectors, on behalf of resident engineer, or project manager.
• Complete daily reports, measure and calculate unit price quantities.
• Coordinate independent material sampling and testing.
• Monitor maintenance of traffic.
• Take and compile photographs, for tracking of daily progress.
• Helping update red-line drawings using Bluebeam.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
