About The Position

The Center for Economic and Social Research (CESR) at the University of Southern California is seeking a full-time Applied Biostatistician to join their dynamic team. This role involves leading and contributing to advanced statistical analyses, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and playing a key role in impactful research on aging and dementia. A primary responsibility will be to develop, maintain, and expand complex analytic pipelines for data imputation in ongoing longitudinal studies. This is a grant funded, one year fixed term position and offers a hybrid work arrangement. Requirements

• PhD in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or other quantitative social science field
• Proficiency in R
• Expertise in missing data imputation
• Experience working with large-scale observational cohort studies or surveys
• Familiarity with regression modeling, survival analysis, longitudinal data analysis
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting findings
• Demonstrated research skills, preferably in the form of peer reviewed publications

Nice To Haves

• Proficiency in Stata and Mplus
• Experience in item response theory or confirmatory factor analysis
• Prior experience designing and leading complex simulation analysis to estimate statistical power for complex analyses and answer empirical methodological questions
• A minimum of 3 years of experience after the completion of PhD

Responsibilities

• Conduct data analysis using statistical programming with a focus on accuracy and reproducibility
• Address missing data using imputation methods and other advanced statistical techniques
• Apply theoretical knowledge and appropriate statistical tools to solve complex problems
• Develop and implement statistical protocols for quality control
• Summarize and communicate findings orally and in written form
• Contribute to the preparation of papers for publication
• Support the development of statistical plans and power analysis for proposal development
