About The Position

The Senior Benefits Administrator is responsible for administration and compliance of Company benefits programs, such as medical, dental, short/long term disability, vision, accidental death, and disability, 401(k), wellness and time off policies that align with Baxters North American, Inc. business objectives, culture, and philosophy of being an employer of choice. Informs and guides HR Team and/or employees on benefits matters regarding eligibility, coverage, and provisions. Compiles and maintains benefits records and documentation. Work is independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a benefits related project. Must be an advocate for employees for HR department functions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Completion of a Human Resources or Benefits Professional designation preferred.
  • 8+ years of HR administration related experience with supporting or administering benefits, compliance, and annual filings (5500, ACA, 401(k), COBRA, etc.)
  • Strong ERISA compliance experience, including Health, Wellness and Retirement Programs required.
  • Experience in communicating across all corporate levels, including top executives, is essential.
  • Benefit Provider Negotiations, Benefit Program Administration, Benefits Program Compliance Filings, COBRA and ACA Reporting, Health and Welfare Benefits, HR Regulatory Environment and Compliance, Open Enrollment Administration, Worker’s Comp Administration, Benefits Program Design, Benefits Administration Software.
  • Must demonstrate Customer Focus, Emotional Intelligence, Operational Excellence, Initiative, Work Quality, Communication, and Time Management skills.

Nice To Haves

  • HRIS experience supporting the benefits programs and experience with manufacturing practices is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Administration and/or assists with communication of BNA programs, including health and welfare benefits, wellness and work/life programs, 401k, and time off policies, so they are implemented efficiently, equitably, and consistent with organizational objectives and comply with regulations.
  • Strong compliance expertise to ensures compliance guidelines and training documents are maintained for evolving ERISA, Federal and state benefits related legislations.
  • Functions as a liaison between payroll department, software contacts, insurance broker, and/or vendors to resolve complex issues.
  • Provide effective advice to field HR reps on employee/plan eligibility, coverage, and other benefit or wellness matters.
  • Assists with annual benefit programs, life events and plan election changes.
  • Audits benefits records and documents for accuracy and compliance with ERISA, Federal or state regulations. Responsible for ACA compliance and Retirement Plan annual audit processes.
  • Performs audits to ensure accuracy of plan administration. Run standard and creates ad-hoc reports for audits and/or analysis to support benefit programs.
  • Compares vendor records to company records and reconciles differences. Ensure accurate and timely payment of related invoices.
  • Strategic partner with HR and business leadership to support benefit programs, wellbeing programs and policies.
  • May provide support for guidance to HR Team for leave of absence and accommodations requiring specialized attention, including the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA), the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), state and local leave laws, and short-term or long-term disability plans.
  • Collaborate with production and supporting departments to ensure the food safety and quality of our products.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
