About The Position

Become a part of our caring community and help us put health first The Senior Behavioral Health Strategy Professional supports the defining, implementing, and advancing the strategic vision of behavioral health, mental health, and addiction initiatives across the Humana's Virginia health plan. You will collaborate with leadership to shape segment and enterprise- wide policies, guides, innovation, and oversees the integration behavioral health across all populations. The Senior Behavioral Health Strategy Professional helps influence enterprise and market outcomes, developing new approaches to care delivery, and serves as the behavioral health subject matter expert within interdepartmental initiatives. The Senior Behavioral Health Strategy Professional's work assignments involve moderately complex to complex issues where the analysis of situations and data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. You will ensure that all programs align with organizational goals and regulatory requirements, supports cost reduction efforts, and maintains high standards of quality care. The BH Strategy Professional collaborates with internal teams, external partners, and leadership to drive innovation, improve access, and optimize outcomes for behavioral health services.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in behavioral health, healthcare transformation, integrated care, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience in care management and behavioral health program implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel).
  • Strong problem-solving, process improvement, and influencing skills.
  • Effective communication skills with ability to deliver presentations to senior leaders.
  • Willingness to travel statewide up to 35%.
  • Must reside in Virginia

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Mental Health Professional with one of the following licenses: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC),), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC).
  • Project Management and program development skill

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute multi-year behavioral health strategies, including annual action plans and measurable goals.
  • Identify, prioritize, and advance new behavioral health initiatives to address gaps in care, member needs, and regulatory requirements.
  • Strong Knowledge of Virginia Medicaid, DMAS, BH, and SUD Services: Demonstrates strong familiarity with DMAS, BH service delivery, regulations, and community resources.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with community organizations, provider networks, and state agencies to enhance service delivery and access.
  • Represent Humana Behavioral Health at community events, forums, and collaborative workgroups.
  • Support behavioral health managers in preparing and submitting regulatory reports, including those related to Foster Care, Behavioral Health Crisis, and accreditation requirements.
  • Ensure all programs and initiatives meet state and federal compliance standards.
  • Identify and lead cost reduction strategies within behavioral health programs, including process improvement and resource optimization.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems and methodologies for behavioral health initiatives, including data collection on outcome measures and program effectiveness.
  • Be a subject matter expert on behavioral health topics for internal teams, providing guidance on strategy, best practices, and policy interpretation related to behavioral health and substance use interventions.
  • Lead internal policy and procedure updates related to behavioral health operations.
  • Work with leadership to design and implement specialized behavioral health programs.
  • Collaborate with the quality team to design interventions, measure, and report on outcome metrics for BH HEDIS and PWP measures.
  • Travel to and participate in provider and community events to promote Humana's behavioral health initiatives and foster community and provider partnership; working closely with Human's Population Health team.
