Feathr’s SaaS platform is a critical component of the value we deliver to our clients. Feathr’s Senior Software Engineers help us grow and maintain the technical components that allow us to meet the advertising, marketing, and web analytics needs of our diverse customer base. A Senior Software Engineer at Feathr has a demonstrated interest and proficiency in web development. You will work under the direction of a Director of Product on backend software development projects. Engineers at Feathr own their code from planning to maintenance to retirement - you will work with internal and external stakeholders to develop requirements and design technical solutions, collaborate with your engineering colleagues to implement those solutions, deploy and monitor your changes in production, and address issues as they are identified.

Requirements

5+ years of backend software engineering experience
2+ years building distributed software
Professional experience owning a process that included shipping a complicated piece of software to real users
Proficiency with AI-assisted development tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor); we use these daily and consider them core to our workflow
Work effectively in both synchronous and asynchronous environments
Solid knowledge of key data structures and algorithms
Demonstrated focus on developing and maintaining the security and compliance of enterprise data concerns
Strong proficiency in writing automated unit tests and integration tests
Advanced proficiency with Elasticsearch APIs and use cases
Expertise in MongoDB queries, aggregations, and regular maintenance
Advanced knowledge of AWS infrastructure and services (EC2, SQS, and EKS at minimum)
Experience with event stream ingestion and transformation from diverse sources
Effectively leverage AI coding assistants to accelerate development, debug issues, and explore unfamiliar codebases
Pragmatic and customer-oriented—you build software to help customers solve real problems

Experience with Docker, self-hosted Drone CI/CD, Kubernetes, Helm, or programmatic advertising platforms

Responsibilities

Design and implement backend features and services that ship to real users
Solve technical problems and document their solutions for the team
Collaborate with frontend engineers, product managers, and other teams to design and develop features
Write clean, testable, performant code and thoughtfully review code written by your teammates
Debug and resolve backend issues—performance bottlenecks, data consistency problems, production incidents
Deploy your changes to production and monitor them for correctness and performance
Participate in technical design reviews and architectural discussions
Ensure the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of Feathr's data and operations
Iterate on feedback and continuously improve technical solutions
